Starting at top left is a Hardin, base tang knife, Dovetail, Big Sandy-like
and a Lost Lake.
In the second row is a Kirk, followed by a possible Vosburg, a Kirk
Serrated. possible Palmer and another Kirk.
The reason for using the term "Big Sandy-like" is because the Big Sandy
typology is not recognized in the State of Illinois though there are many
points being found that fit that description. Another issue is the typing
of the one point as a possible Vosburg. I have seen this particular point
in other collections from this area and it doesn't quite fit the Palmer
profile due to the very short hafting element and the small, narrow corner
notches placed low and at the corners of a straight edged trianguloid preform.
Justice states that the Vosburg type appears to occur in very low frequency
in Indiana and since Eastern Will County sets right next to Indiana this
may be a distinct possibility, especially since this area lacks study. |
