Doin' The Dig Thing...
August 15, 1999

Now we get to the really good stuff.
Bob found this paleo blade (the blade edges, except for the base,
are heavily ground) deep (7') in the hole in the red clay layer.
Found next to the blade were the following bone implements:

The artifact on the left seems to be a pestle-like instrument used with the
artifact on the right--- note the grinding pattern in the "bowl"-- it is even more circular
when you see it "live". The middle object appears to have been wrapped and held together with
sinew. The next pages have close-up shots of each object from different perspectives.
We'll call the left one "The Pestle", the middle one "The Handle", and the right one
"The Implement".
