After a rain-out week,
a Muddy Sunday.
 July 18, 1999

A small cache of tools and a Kinney knife to show you,
plus, a little more about the soil layers at Onion, and,
some shots of an interesting part of the site
with a hidden rockshelter not yet excavated.
Dirt Brothers Rich, Paul and Quinn out there early.
(Bob wanders in at noon!)

Scene just upstream (but looking downstream) near the Onion Creek site we're working.
Beautiful, isn't it? This part of Onion Creek is always flowing.
The next shot is of the woods to the left of this picture.

A peek through the dense thicket of poison ivy and barbed cat ivy and you find:

Looks like a rockshelter entrance, and it is!

A shot inside shows a very full floor and a near 6 foot roof.
I didn't come prepared to encounter the snakes and
other surprises one can find inside, and so
just took this picture for now.
