Dirt Brothers Peel the Onion
Lots of visitors to the site this week:
Butch, Megan, The Cherba's return from Iowa,
Dean and Jacob join us for the first time,
and as usual Bob and Quinn...

Butch finds the most beautiful Nolan I've ever seen!
(you'll have to wait for a few pages to see it :-)

6 feet of throwback Quinn was working under collapsed suddenly
and trapped Quinn's leg... this area is dangerous--- the throwback,
from years ago, covers undug midden. It's a lot of work removing it, and it
tends to fall without warning--- usually into the holes, unfortunately.

This hole shows the three distinct layering at the ravine's edge--
the top 1-1/2 feet is compressed bulldozed dirt-- all jumbled
up with throwback and undug late archaic layers.
it's hard as cement and need a pick to work it out in clumps.
Note the rocky midden layer the previous diggers missed.
We have taken the dig much deeper than anyone previously.

Next week I'll show some of the limestone fill being
prepared for spreading across the site.
