From Dirt Bro Brad Elfrink from Swampeast, Missouri

Thought that I would share with you a few pictures of a small part of my collection.  I have
been collecting for a number of years and am a trained archeologist (although I've chosen not to work in the field professionally) who is addicted to surface hunting.  A freshly plowed field after a good rain is pretty close to heaven for me, particularly one or two special fields.  Here are some pictures which include some of the treasures which I have picked up over the past couple of years.  My pride and joy is my ever, and quickly, growing collection of bird
points (all but two of which come from the same Mississippian site).  I have also included pictures of some heartbreakers (including two broken banner stones pictured with a tomahawk, a tube pipe made from iron ore, an unfinished bannerstone which has a small piece of the core left in the drilled hole, and a wonderful paint pot....sure glad I turned that rock over!), some large blades and tools, a few frames of some assorted points which include some woodland pieces, daltons, archaic, etc., as well as an effigy of a wood duck head (wish I had the rest of the pot!), an assortment of Mississippian pottery sherds (have found two large boxes of the stuff and only pick up special pieces now),  and some other various treasures.  I have cataloged over 40 points (including about 20 more bird points) and other interesting pieces so far this year and hope to add more as the days go by.  From my training as an archeologist I am an ardent supporter of accurate recording of the artifacts which we are fortunate enough to find, and where they are found, as it is only then that they are truly valuable archeologically.  Here's wishing my fellow collectors good luck in the field.

Thanks Brad!--- and thanks for becoming a member of the Dirt Brothers!
Bob
