These artifacts are what Don had in an antique shop and he wasn’t kidding
when he said he had his better pieces there. The large point on the
far right is still under discussion as it seems to have attributes of both
Hardin and Heavy Duty and poses a typical problem. The very bottom
of the base has been sheared off, the back-side of this artifact
shows a median ridge and it is very thickly made so until John Duncan takes
a good closer look it will remain a bit of a question, though he does lean
towards a heavily resharpened Hardin.
The woodland artifact, made from hornstone, shows a spokeshave and this
is the first object of this type that I have seen. By Don Schultz
retrieving all his artifacts from the various shops that they were displayed
in, and for sale, he has helped save a bit of prehistory of this area and
we thank him. Don also knows what I personally think about the 30-40
artifacts that he has already parted with! Sure hope there wasn’t
a Clovis amid the group he sold! Thanks Don, we are glad to have
obtained these and it is much appreciated.
